China's BPA imports jumped 32% year on year to 39,957 tonnes in June but fell 11% from May, based on official statistics released on Thursday Japan supplied 11,157 tonnes or 28% of China’s BPA imports last month, retaining its place as the country’s biggest seller of the chemical, based on the statistics. The US came in second, having exported 8,004 tonnes of BPA into China. South Korea was the third biggest supplier, from which China received 7,526 tonnes of BPA. China continues to import most of its BPA as the new 120,000 tonne/year plant in the country, owned by Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui Chemicals (SSMC), remains plagued by technical woes, limiting supply to domestic end-users.
