Indian PP exports are likely to peak at 1.3m tonnes in 2010-2011, up from 820,000 tonnes in 2009-2010. India has around 40% surplus capacity after the commissioning of two new PP lines by Reliance Industries this year. The surplus would increase after Indian Oil Corp commissions 600,000 tonnes/year of capacity in 2010. Indian PP demand was projected to grow by 13% in the year ending 31 March 2010 to reach 2.045m tonnes. With the average rate of growth projected at 10%/year over the next five years, demand was expected to hit 3.965m tonnes in 2014-15.
