South Korea’s Polymirae shut its No 1 and 2 PP lines in Yeosu late Tuesday due to problems in their process control systems.
The 150,000 tonne/year No 2 line was expected to resume production on Thursday and would run at 80% of capacity for the rest of the year due to mechanical issues, while the No 1 line with the same capacity was due to restart on 20 November.
The producer would gradually ramp up output at the No 1 line to 100% and the production losses from the outage were estimated at 2,000-3,000 tonnes.
Polymirae’s 170,000 tonne/year No 3 PP line was restarted on 15 November after it was shut for eight days due to a power failure, and was estimated to have lost 5,000 tonnes of output.
