BP Zhuhai shuts 500kt/y PTA Unit

China’s BP Zhuhaiwhich is an 85:15 joint venture between oil giant BP and China’s Fuhua group shut its 500,000 tonne/year PTA line in southern Guangdong province Tuesday due to a shortage of feedstock paraxylene (PX)and the restart date was not given. The company’s other 900,000 tonne/year facility at the same site was running at slightly more than 100% of nameplate capacity after it was restarted late last month.
