Taiwan's FCFC ramps up phenol-acetone production

Taiwan’s Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) has restarted its second phenol-acetone unit in Mailiao early this week to boost production in view of increased demand from its downstream BPA plants. The company’s two phenol-acetone units with a combined production capacity of 400,000 tonnes/year for phenol and 250,000 tonnes/year for acetone in Mailiao were taken off line in mid-January due to weak market conditions. The first unit resumed operation in early February and has been running at full capacity.
