Sichuan Lutianhua had restarted its 445,000 tonne/year plant in southwestern China early this month as planned after supply of feedstock natural gas was restored. Most methanol producers were not able to operate their plants during the winter season from January to March as the Chinese government rations the use of natural gas for industrial purposes during winter. The government mandates that natural gas be primarily used for heating purposes during the winter months.
