PotashCorp's Trinidad ammonia plant shut down for maintenance

(ICIS news)--Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan (PotashCorp) shut down one ammonia plant in Trinidad for maintenance and plans to shut down another in October, the company said on Thursday. PotashCorp’s 02 ammonia plant in Trinidad was shut down on 5 September for maintenance to replace a catalyst, senior vice president Tom Pasztor said. The 02 plant is scheduled to be back in production on 26 or 27 September, he said. Ammonia production lost during the closure would total 38,500 short tons (st) (34,925 tonnes), he added. PotashCorp’s 04 ammonia plant is to be shut down on 19 October for scheduled maintenance that would last 28 days and result in a loss of 2,000st/day, or a total of approximately 56,000st, Pasztor said.
